The Balloon You Sent Me

July 7, 2016

The balloon
You sent me
Floated
Out of my hand.
I tried to run after
The orange circle
Swirling aimlessly
Above my head.
I could barely
Keep up with it,
With you,
With life, chasing colored
Strings, I wanted
To grab them,
To hold you,
Why did you send a
Balloon instead of
Your heart?

The Flowers That You Gave Me

July 6, 2016

The flowers that
You gave me
Wilted in my hand
As soon as I
Touched them, like
Feathers drenched in
Rain. I promise
To keep the feathers,
Wet and wilted,
Because I know
That flowers can fly
Like love notes
Twirling in the rain.
